Howard Bailey | Principal

Howard Bailey is a Co-Founder and Principal at Bailey, Elizondo & Brinkman LLC. His experience is spread across multiple industries and focused on companies both in and out of bankruptcy. Mr. Bailey has also testified as an expert witness in cases involving M&A, Capital Markets and banking transactions. In addition to debtors, Mr. Bailey has represented creditor groups in bankruptcy. Prior to founding the firm, he was the Western Region Senior Vice President for GE Capital's Restructuring Finance Group. Additionally, he was Senior Vice President Origination for GE Capital's Corporate Lending Group, whereby he was responsible for the San Francisco Bay Area. He also held a management position as team leader of portfolio and underwriting, where he managed a large team of professionals collectively responsible for a $2 billion+ portfolio, as well as structuring, underwriting, approving and executing on new business opportunities. In the latter capacity, his team successfully closed over $5 billion in new loan commitments. Further, Mr. Bailey was responsible for guiding his team in the successful management of workout customers. This enabled him to have a unique perspective in helping clients manage through the loan workout process and their relationship with the financial institution.

Prior to GE, his experience includes several Bank of America predecessors, most notably BankBoston, where he began his tenure there as a field audit examiner, additionally completing the Management Training Program, and spent 1990 to 1995 in its Loan Workout Group. During this time, he successfully worked out several high profile accounts, during perhaps, the last significant credit downcycle. As a result of Mr. Bailey's track record, he relocated to the San Francisco in 1997 to establish the Western Region, including offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Mr. Bailey is on the Board of the Northern California Turnaround Management Association and is past Chairman of the Northern California Commercial Finance Association. He has been a speaker on numerous occasions and has served on a multitude of panels, including the Association for Corporate Growth, Commercial Finance Association, American Bar Association and Turnaround Management Association.

Mr. Bailey received his BSBA from University of Hartford, and an MBA from Northeastern University, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma. He resides in Northern California with his wife and three children.
